The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC) has issued its first annual report since its launch on January 1, 2021. The MLC was created by the Music Modernisation Act of 2018 to license and administer online mechanical rights on behalf of songwriters and music publishers.

The MLC has signed licensing agreements with over 40 digital services providers (DSPs), and is processing monthly the usage files supplied by the DSPs. From January 1, 2021, it has started to receive data files from DSPs...
