The Mechanical Licensing Collective, Digital Licensee Coordinator Renew Budget Agreement

NASHVILLE, TN – The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC) and the Digital Licensee Coordinator, Inc. (DLC) have renewed their budget agreement that will allow The MLC to continue to perform critical tasks as directed under the Music Modernization Act (MMA).

The MLC’s CEO Kris Ahrend and DLC Board offered the following joint statement upon announcement of the agreement:

“This agreement between The MLC and the DLC marks another important milestone in The MLC’s development by providing the funding The MLC will need to ensure its continued success moving forward.  We will continue working together to fulfill the objectives of the MMA and build on the achievements of The MLC to date, which include providing a landmark royalty administration platform and public musical works database, as well as helping songwriters get the royalties that they are due.

“We also reiterate our commitment to continue to evaluate The MLC’s operating costs and maintain operational transparency, including the substantial public disclosures that The MLC already provides regarding its collection and distribution of royalties, its annual expenditures, and its projected annual budgets.”

More details on the agreement are available in the Copyright Royalty Board filing here.
