The MLC Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with Music Industry Webinar and Virtual Roundtable

The MLC to present ‘Breaking Down Latin Music Contracts’ with Silvino Diaz, Esq., and ‘The Writer Behind the Song: Hispanic Heritage Month Edition,’ moderated by Marlon Fuentes and featuring artists Aymée Nuviola, Gian Marco, Vasquez La Pesa, GeezLy and Queen Parker.

NASHVILLE, TN – In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC) announces two special initiatives: a webinar titled Breaking Down Latin Music Contracts with Silvino Diaz, Esq., and a virtual roundtable, The Writer Behind the Song: Hispanic Heritage Month Edition. Each of these initiatives will celebrate the contributions of Latin music creators to the global music industry during Hispanic Heritage Month, which is recognized from September 15 to October 15. They will also provide educational and networking opportunities to empower the Latin music community.

Breaking Down Latin Music Contracts, with Latin music attorney, Silvino Diaz, Esq., will offer a comprehensive overview of the complexities of Latin music contracts, with insights to help creators navigate the legal landscape and maximize their earnings. Attendees will learn about all the ways creators get paid when their music is streamed on digital platforms, including the digital audio mechanical royalties that flow from The MLC. This webinar will also feature a live Q&A.

In addition, The MLC’s The Writer Behind the Song series returns with a special Hispanic Heritage Month edition. This roundtable discussion will be moderated by Marlon Fuentes, who previously spearheaded the creation of the “Best Global Performance” GRAMMY category and championed innovation and inclusion initiatives at the Recording Academy. Fuentes will guide the conversation as participants share their experiences, creative processes and the unique challenges of working in the Latin music industry. The panel will include a lineup of award-winning and influential artists, including Aymée Nuviola, Cuban GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY winner; Gian Marco, Peruvian Latin GRAMMY winner; Vasquez La Pesa, Dominican-American Latin urban artist; GeezLy, Puerto Rican Latin urban songwriter; and Queen Parker, Dominican Latin urban songwriter.

Both initiatives are designed to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and significant contributions of Latin music creators, offering opportunities for learning, engagement and collaboration.
