The MLC Seeking Suggestions for Music Publisher Representative to Serve on its Board of Directors | Mechanical Licensing Collective

The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC) is now seeking suggestions for music publisher representatives to fill a seat on its Board of Directors that has been vacated by the resignation of a Director. Candidates for the open seat must be a representative of a music publisher.

Under the Music Modernization Act (MMA), certain governance positions at The MLC are reserved for representatives of music publishers. These positions include ten members of The MLC’s Board of Directors(“Music Publisher Directors”), six members of the Operations Advisory Committee, five members of the Dispute Resolution Committee and five members of the Unclaimed Royalties Oversight Committee.

Vacancies in these positions are filled by music publishers pursuant to The MLC’s Bylaws. Music Publisher Director selections are also subject to appointment by the Librarian of Congress. No two Music Publisher Directors may be affiliated with the same music publisher or music publishers under common control or ownership.

The MLC Board of Directors meets regularly, and all meetings allow for virtual participation such that travel is not generally required. Members are expected to devote sufficient time to prepare for and particulate fully in all meetings.
